Syritta pipiens – Thick-legged Hoverfly
The Thick-legged Hoverfly (Syritta pipiens) is just about the first I’ve managed to ID all by myself… apparently there are no confusion species in the UK and it has, as the name implies a couple of really thick thighs. They are on display in the images below – it is tiny which is why the images are a bit fuzzy, they are much magnified.
