Polyommatus icarus – Common Blue

The Common Blue butterfly (Polyommatus icarus) is not, in fact, the commonest small blue butterfly in my garden… I get a lot more ‘holly blues’ – but today’s (August 6th 2013) chase round the flowerpots with my camera was rewarded with shots of the closed wings showing all the diagnostic features of a Common Blue.
