Calliphora vomitoria – Bluebottle

The Bluebottle (Calliphora vomitoria) is well known to us all as a common household pest. They love to lay their eggs on meat or fish but it is their table manners that we find most problematic. Apart from bringing bacteria onto our food via their feet, they also spew out and re-absorb their food, hence the scientific name… euuuuw!
