Phymatocera aterrima

Phymatocera aterrima – Solomon’s Seal Sawfly

I haven’t got used to the idea that there is a division of hymenoptera just for sawflies yet. Lucky for me these that these caterpillars devastate my Solomon’s Seal leaves every year leaving just skeletons. As this happens after flowering I’ve never minded.

I hope to catch mummy laying eggs one day and get a photo of an adult.
