I am beginning to catalogue the animal (mostly insect) life in my tiny patch… so far as possible I am taking record shots… but I am no photographer – they are my ‘best efforts’ and the identity of the species of seen in the garden (listed on each page) is my best effort too. I am not an entomolgist just an interested amateur naturalist delighting in the micro world.

This all started with a realisation that there were many different species of hoverfly in our garden despite their tiny size…

Because most animals in the garden are insects I’ve decided to give the broad families their own place on the index
